Have private label clothing made and import it safely
You set the fabric, cut, colour and labels, a producer from our network makes the garment, and we bring it to you with customs cleared. One European contact stays with you from the first call to DDP delivery, and the invoice comes from Germany.
Request a quotePrivate label or white label?
With white label, a manufacturer’s stock article gets your logo and labels. It is quicker, but cut and fabric are fixed, and another brand can sell the very same piece. With private label the garment is made to your specification, and that specification is yours for every reorder. We handle both. The minimum order is 300 pieces, and within it we split sizes and colours by what you expect to sell.
Your label, our team at the producers
DS Trading is a company from Hamburg. Co-founder Felix Sander works in China with a whole team, where Wei Ming Wai leads our network of more than 100 producers, all known to us personally. Whether a workshop can sew your cut cleanly is something we look at on its own floor. Your European contact takes the collection from tech pack to goods-in, so the import stops being a black box.
We get in touch before you have to ask and say openly when a colour is off or a date is at risk. Delivery dates are planned realistically, and we do everything we can to keep them. You know us personally, and with a quality problem we talk to you at once and come to see you. Your trust is what we value most.
- Usually cheaper than sourcing yourself or through other agencies, because we run the China and Germany legs ourselves, pick the cheaper option on each and negotiate the best possible price with the producer
- DDP delivery and an invoice from Germany
What the specification has to fix
Whatever is not written down ends up being decided by the factory. Before quoting we go through fabric and weight, cut and size set, colour, trims, branding and packaging with you, ideally from your tech pack. If you do not have one, a reference garment or a sketch will do, and we settle the rest on a call.
As a guide, jersey T-shirts are often around 180 g/m² and hoodies in French terry or fleece around 320 g/m². Logos are printed, embroidered, woven into a label or applied as a rubber patch; please send them as vector files (SVG or EPS).
The producer makes neck label, care label and hangtag along with the garment and attaches them at the factory. Under EU rules the care label must state the fibre composition, otherwise customs may hold the goods. If something is missing from your label files we tell you; responsibility for trademark and labelling stays with you as the brand owner.
From the sample to the series
From the specification the producer sews a pre-production sample, and we send that sample to you. With textiles, what counts is how fabric and workmanship feel, and no photo shows that. So you check fabric, fit, colour and labels on the piece itself. The sample and its shipping are invoiced, and you know the amount before the producer starts. The series only begins after your written approval, and from then on that sample is the reference for every check.
Changes after approval cost time and usually money, because fabric or trims have to be reordered. A reference image made with AI often shows details that cannot be produced that way; we clear those up before sampling starts.
Producer, checks and import
A workshop for heavyweight hoodies needs different machines than one for activewear. We choose the producer by category, fabric, finishing and quantity and check its business licence before the first order. Our team inspects on site during production and again before loading; if you waive this, the order costs less.
We are the importer and deliver DDP, so you need neither an EORI number nor a customs declaration. We check the tariff code in the EU TARIC database before ordering and pay the import VAT; the VAT on our invoice is deductible as input tax. Cargo insurance is available on request. You pay 60 % on signing and 40 % once the bill of lading or air waybill is issued, for larger orders by letter of credit if you wish.
Reorders that match the first run
A label becomes a brand when the second run looks like the first. We check every reorder against the approved specification and sample, above all for fabric from a different dye lot and for shifted grading, which you would otherwise only notice when returns go up. You can top up just the sizes and colours that sold, and staying with the same producer keeps the reference stable.

OpenFrequently asked questions
What is private label clothing?
Clothing a producer makes to your specification and that you sell under your own brand. With white label, by contrast, a ready-made stock article only gets your logo and labels.
How do I have private label clothing made and import it safely?
With a written specification, a vetted producer, a sample approved in writing, two on-site checks and a partner in Germany who handles import and DDP delivery, with one contact for all of it.
Do samples cost anything?
Yes, the sample and its shipping are always charged. You get the amount from us before sampling starts, and nothing goes into production until you have approved the sample in writing.
What do you need from me to quote?
Product, target quantity and quality level, plus a tech pack, a reference garment or a sketch. If there is no tech pack, we go through the details with you on a call and then quote the landed cost with a concrete lead time.
Plan your first collection
Send us a tech pack, a reference garment or a sketch. Within 48 hours you get our answer with the landed cost and a lead time including production.
